Big Brother has been a bit poorly which means we’ve been spending lots of time snuggled up indoors trying to find things to do. Fortunately he likes playing games on the iPad and iPhone, in between episodes of Chuggington and coughing, so we’ve been trying out some new apps. Based on the original books by renowned education expert Dr. Lin Day, Stagecoach Education: Project Christmas is the first of the series to be brought to the iPad. Stagecoach was the first ever Educational Course developed for Under 5s and it has been helping to educate a global audience for over…

I can’t resist a swap, especially when it’s a thrifted Christmassy one so signed up straight away to Lakota’s Faith, Hope and Charity Shopping Christmas swap. The challenge was to send a minimum of 3 items: one item to be sourced from a charity shop, one handmade item and one Christmas decoration of some sort. My partner was the lovely Hope from Pixie’s Ponderings. The parcels were beautifully packaged (almost too good to open!) but one evening last week I couldn’t resist looking at them any longer and did open them. Hope sent me vintage pot holders, a vintage crochet…

I don’t often find myself in Sainsbury’s but at the weekend we picked up some shopping where I came across Sainsbury’s Mini Gingerbread Men Biscuits in a gift box. Of course I had to try them but I really wish I hadn’t! Bizarrely I can’t find any reference to them on Sainsbury’s own website but I promise I haven’t made them up. The biscuits come in a small cardboard box shaped like a house and contain a number of mini biscuits. They tasted dry, rock hard (despite being sealed in a bag) and not particularly gingery – I wouldn’t buy…

Giveaway now closed. The winner, as chosen by the IWM, is Rebecca Murphy. The correct answer was King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. One of my favourite museums in London is the Imperial War Museum and we’ll be popping along between Christmas and New Year for a last look round the 1940s house which is due to close on the 2nd January 2012. The house, which is at the heart of the well-loved family exhibition The Children’s War, is all dressed up for a traditional Christmas in 1945 and this is the last chance to see it before the exhibition…

Until recently Big Brother has been the *biggest* Chuggington fan. He literally eats, sleeps and breaths Chuggington. Until, that is, he caught an episode of Thomas the Tank Engine. Unfortunately when he wants to watch an episode he can only say “choo choo” which we have to interpret as either Chuggington or Thomas! Luckily for Big Brother he was sent a sneak preview of the new Thomas & Friends DVD which goes on sale on Monday 23rd January. Thomas is back with four exciting engine-packed adventures. Called Thomas & Friends: Thomas in Charge which finds Thomas taking Charge, Henry trying…

I’m definitely at the (second-time) new mum stage where it’s a struggle to squeeze a shower into our day, let alone brush my hair or slap on some moisturiser. However, when I was offered the chance to try a new beauty product I thought this was a great opportunity to do something for myself! Artistry skincare, exclusively from Amway, launches its second product in the Intensives skincare range. Following the success of the celebrity favourite – Renewing Peel, loved by Helena Christensen, Pamela Anderson, Jaime Winstone and many more, Amway has licensed leading anti-ageing technology for its new Anti-Wrinkle Firming…

A good friend told me that conversations taking place between a mummy and daddy between the hours of 11pm and 5am don’t count. Which is just as well as yesterday morning my husband told me he hates babies, in particular, our baby. I think he has forgotten that newborns are pretty clueless about bedtimes. Little Sis has no respect for the fact we have busy days, up at 7am with her Big Brother. She happily sleep for 4 hours at a time surrounded by cBeebies and a toddler shouting for attention. But, come the midnight hour when the family is…

I’ll admit I can’t walk past a supermarket without having a quick look round. You never know what new products you’ll find which is how I came across Fiona Cairns Gingerbread Tree Decorations in Waitrose the other day. They were expensive but I couldn’t resist the cellophane wrapping and pretty ribbon – fickle I know. £3.29 will buy 6 biscuits – 3 gingerbread hearts and 3 gingerbread stars. Each biscuit has a hole stamped through it and comes with a piece of coloured ribbon so you can decorate your Christmas tree with your expensive gingerbread biscuits if you wish. Once…

Difficult to believe my little girl is 2 weeks’ old already. Our first few weeks together have been lots of fun although my fingers have been itching to pick up some sewing! As we knew our due date we had time to customise a vest for Little Sister. I would love to claim the idea as my own but, you can probably guess, I saw it first on pinterest! We’ve been experimenting with printing on clothes for a couple of weeks and have previously made a spooky Halloween tshirt and Chuggington tshirt for Big Brother. This is what we made…
