For some reason I decided I wasn’t busy enough and challenged myself to try 10 different craft projects this year. I’m really bad at falling in love with a picture in a magazine, buying supplies and never getting round to making it. No more! This year I am working my way through my stash of projects and trying really, really hard to not buy craft books, fabric or anything else. I’ll admit I’ve failed terribly at this and have some amazing craft books to tell you about 🙂 Anyway, so far I’ve tried my hand at applique houses which was…

I find this time of year really difficult to dress for. I look outside and see blue sky and think it’s Spring. But when I actually get outside it’s cold and windy. I end up either wearing too many layers or not enough! I invested in a lovely new coat at the end of last year but I needed some more layers to keep me warm. It’s not often I’m asked to review clothes so I was very excited when I was offered a voucher to spend online at Joe Browns. Like most mums I find it really difficult to…

Disney Junior’s brand new original 3D animation for preschoolers “Henry Hugglemonster”, will premiere on the channel next week on 8th February. The series follows the adventures of fun-loving, five-year-old Henry Hugglemonster, the middle child in a happy, close-knit monster family – The Hugglemonsters of Roarsville. The series was developed from children’s book “I’m a Happy Hugglewug” by Children’s Laureate award-winner, Niamh Sharkey, published by Walker Books. We were lucky enough to meet Niamh Sharkey last week and have a personal reading and art masterclass with her and a couple of other lovely bloggers. My toddler absolutely adores “Henry Monster” as…

Welcome to Hotel Transylvania, Dracula’s lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live it up and no humans are allowed. We love making sun catchers. Our sitting room faces south which means we get a lot of lovely sun light on the window – perfect for handmade sun catchers! After the success of the ones we made last year we thought we’d make some for Valentines Day too. Easy Valentine sun catchers You will need: card, scissors, coloured pieces of cellophane (we used sweetie wrappers), sticky tape and bakers twine. We drew round cookie cutters to make heart and circles shapes. This meant they were all the same shape and size. Then we carefully cut out the middle of each…

Choosing the perfect child’s name was top of my list when I was pregnant. Despite having thought about it for years, when I was actually pregnant none of the names felt right. Not for the want of trying but the poor toddler was nameless for his first two weeks. We had a long list, then a short list. Nothing suited him. His grandfather started referring to his as Fred and eventually we just forced ourselves to sit down and decide. Little Sis had it slightly easier with a short list of three boys’ names and three girls’ names and we…

I’m a huge fan of Elyse Major’s blog, Tinkered Treasures, so was very happy to be sent a copy of her new book to review. Adding charm to the everyday is the concept behind Elyse Major’s first book, Tinkered Treasures. It features more than 35 projects, each craft is designed for beginners and can easily be elaborated with, according to your own skill level. Tinkering is the name given by Elyse to the transformation of everyday items. Through you can pick up some great ideas for embellishing, repurposing and altering using items you’ll already have. The projects are split into…
