I love using felt and I had an idea of creating a no-sew map of Greater London in felt. I was recently sent the two new Scotch Super Glue Precision Applicators from 3M and I thought this would be the perfect project to try them out. I found a map of Greater London showing the 32 London boroughs plus the City of London and printed it out. I then cut out each borough individually to make a paper template, before cutting out each borough from felt sheets. As you can see I ended up grouping some of the boroughs together…

As a busy mum of two I’m always on the lookout to save money where I can. I’m sure it’s not just my children, but the washing machine is on every day and I always seem to be cleaning up after one of them! The P&G Everyday Waste Savers campaign aims to help households like mine and yours save hundreds of pounds each year, by sharing easy, innovative ways to do everyday things that also help us to be a bit greener too. Did you know there are lots of ways to clean at lower temperatures in order to save…

I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and their client. A couple of weeks ago we were left with a wooden pallet after the children’s playhouse was delivered. I knew I wanted to keep it and upcycle it and, after a quick search on Pinterest, I decided on upcycling the pallet into a planter for the garden. We have a lovely garden but there are no flower beds. I’m not particularly green-fingered but I thought it would be fun to…

The summer issue of Reloved magazine has just been published and I’m pleased to say it is packed full of projects like the last issue I told you about a couple of weeks ago. The magazine features 30 hands-on craft projects from some of my favourite people, such as Kirstie Allsop (who I was delighted to meet at BritMums Live this year!) Pearl Lowe and Annie Sloan. The tag line of the magazine is ‘the creative guide to upcycling’ and this issue has a focus on putting the chic into your shabby furniture, home decor and clothes. I’m not sure…

One of the only things we haven’t yet unpacked is our pictures. Our walls are pretty bare but we both think it’s so important to get right that we’re not in a hurry. I’m the first to admit I’m not very artistic. I didn’t enjoy my Art lessons at school, in fact, I actively tried to get out of them each week by having Cello lessons! Luckily for me I’ve improved since then and my husband has a really good eye too. Our new house is lovely and light but also bigger so we’re looking at investing in some new…

I was invited to take part in a baking challenge from Renshaw Baking who have over 100 years of baking and cake decorating expertise. The challenge was to create an original Royal Baby themed cake which I thought sounded quite fun. Baby cakes (fit for a prince or princess) We all love a Victoria sandwich and it’s a bit of a tea time classic so I made one following my favourite recipe. I wanted to use a 20cm square cake tin so first I weighed 4 eggs, then weighed out the same amount of butter, self raising flour and caster…

Moving house has definitely killed any desire to be crafty. Aside from crafting with the children (and I really don’t count that!), my boxes of fabric and notions are still largely unpacked and staring at me every minute of every hour! I was hoping to carry on with my Grandmothers Garden doll quilt but I haven’t looked at it for the last 8 weeks – eek. The one little glimmer of light has been the ATC swap organised by Ali at Very Berry Handmade which I signed up for before we moved house. The theme was ‘Something New’, and had…

Our household is a little bit obsessed with Minions at the moment. Minions are of course the highlight of the films Despicable Me, to my toddler anyway! I’ve seen lots of Despicable Me crafts on Pinterest and thought we would make our own Minions. We used the plastic shell from a Kinder Surprise which is the perfect shape and colour. How to make Minions from kinder eggs You don’t need many supplies to make your Minions; the shell from an empty Kinder Surprise, blue and black Sharpies, googly eyes and Scotch Super Glue. The plastic shell already has a helpful…

I’m sitting here at just gone 7 o’clock with my two children asleep in their beds (fingers crossed). Our bedtime routine has been established pretty much since the children were born and they never go to sleep without at least one story. My husband and I alternate taking each child to bed and our routine means they are usually in bed by 7pm. Recent research undertaken by Fairy Non-Bio about children’s bedtime routines* found the following: Even as dads get more involved in parenting, bedtime is still mums domain, with 51% of mums in charge of bedtime each night compared…
