The Care Bears: Totally Sweet Adventures

I was recently offered the opportunity to review The Care Bears: Totally Sweet Adventures on DVD. As a child of the early 80s I fondly remembered Care Bears so couldn’t resist sharing this with my children to see what they thought. We’re had a crazy couple of week but yesterday afternoon Little Sis and I sat down and put The Care Bears: Totally Sweet Adventures on. She was immediately enthralled and enjoyed the episodes. Ride the rainbow to Care-a-lot and join the super cute, fluffy and adventurous Share Bear, Cheer Bear and all their Care Bear friends in four exciting…

    It’s the Sample things…

Last weekend I attended a workshop at Tate Britain. It was one of a series of workshops run in conjunction with their latest exhibition – British Folk Art. British Folk Art at Tate Britain This is the first major exhibition of British folk art. What is British folk art? I’m not sure I’m any clearer after visiting the exhibition, but I would still recommend it to anyone with an interest in British history! image source The exhibition guide states that: Folk art has often been neglected in the story of British art: by uncovering this treasure trove of folk art objects, this…

The Usborne Art Book about Colour

I love the way my 4 year old tells me what they’ve been learning at nursery. I know they do some amazing topics. The other day I noticed they’d been block printing colourful houses in the style of a Brazilian artist. He’s also been telling me about mixing colours to make new colours. I love that he is learning so much about art and colour because one of my favourite past times is visiting museums and galleries. Fortunately for us we were sent a copy of The Usborne Art Book about Colour, produced in association with The National Gallery. The…

    Easy Lego bento

Last week we had an amazing day at Legoland. We try and go every year and we’ve always been blessed with amazing weather. I love experimenting with bento lunches but I only realised after we had got home that a Lego bento picnic would have been fun! Today I finally got round to it and the children loved it so I thought I would share my easy Lego bento with you. I already had everything I needed which included a Lego lunch box and small Lego box, egg mould and made picks from plastic toothpicks and small Lego bricks. First…

Win Guylian’s chocolates – the perfect gift for teacher

I can’t quite believe my son will soon complete a year at Nursery. We’ve already had a letter in his book bag about a presentation to the teachers for all their hard work with our children. This is the first year we’ve had to think about an end of term gift. Fortunately I found a pocket friendly box of chocolates from Guylian which must be the perfect way for children to thank their teachers for all their help this year. The 46g box of Sea Horses are a particularly great gift as they retail at £1 so could be bought…

Spring Stitching Club quilt – finished!

Over the past couple of months I’ve been slowly embroidering hexagons for Wild Olive’s Spring Stitching Club quilt, a fun weekly stitching club. I finished the embroidered panel but needed to put the quilt together. I’m not great at finishing projects so I blogged about my progress in the hope it would encourage me to complete it. I’m pretty pleased to say I finished my quilt over the weekend! It’s lovely to see it finished after working on small hexagons for weeks. It’s actually come together quite quickly and I really love it (as does my 4 year old). After I…

    A day at London Zoo

We’ve been lucky to have some amazing family days out recently. Last weekend we spent a day at London Zoo thanks to Superbreak who supplied us with a family ticket. A day at London Zoo We love going to the Zoo, especially as we heard there were a few new areas since our last visit. Our first stop was the recreated South American beach landscape called Penguins Beach. We all love the penguins as thanks to the glass walls and underwater viewing areas you can watch them swimming around. We were also lucky enough to see them eating their breakfast…

    Painting with flowers

We’re fully embracing the warm summer weather and having fun with some summer crafting. It’s lovely to see our garden bursting with colour and we decided to pick some flowers and try painting with them. The children were excited about painting with something other than a sponge or paint brush. Painting with flowers materials: Flowers or leaves Acrylic paint Paint tray Paper Painting with flowers We headed out into the garden and looked for flowers we could pick. We found daisies and dandelions and other things I don’t know the name of. We picked them with enough stalk to hold…
