I feel bad writing about Christmas but it’s my blog so I think I’m allowed. Christmas is fun, especially when you have two little children. They’ve been writing their Christmas lists for weeks which means we’ve all been thinking about it perhaps earlier than normal. I love crafting handmade gifts. Every year I say it but I never start early enough but this year I am going to have. As my family read my blog I can’t say too much but I’ve planned a few super cute projects from some of my favourite craft books. First of all I really…

Ok so the title isn’t terribly catchy (and must change) but since the Summer holidays ended I’ve missed writing our weekly updates. So I decided to bring them back with a list of some of the things which have made me happy under the title of Monday Happiness. My 4 year old has settled into Reception really well. This week is his first full week and he’s having school dinners too. We enjoyed a trip to the cinema to see the Boxtrolls, I loved how well behaved my children were and they’ve both been drawing pictures and making their own…

My children love to hear the classic story of the gingerbread boy all year round so I thought it might be fun to look for some related activities. Here our 15 brilliant gingerbread activities for kids. 15 gingerbread activities for kids I love this idea of crafting a gingerbread house themed puffy paint shadow box from Teach Preschool. I’ve never made our own puffy paint but it sounds simple, and I think I might try adding some ground gingerbread for a full on sensory experience. My children love to use their hands so gingerbread playdough is a favourite activity. For…

I’ve been obsessed with pinning projects using hama beads lately. Hama beads come in three sizes and can be arranged on peg boards to make patterns. My toddler has been experimenting with Hama maxi beads (which are twice the size of normal beads) and that’s made me want to make my own things with the smaller midi beads. I haven’t used them since I was much younger but it’s fun! My Pinterest board is filling up nicely and I’ve already tried a few things. First of all I made a cute little Snow White for my daughter who’s just starting…

Always on the look out for some quick and easy crafts to occupy my children, last year we thought we’d try and make wriggly jelly worms, which we’d seen on Pinterest and are perfect for a Halloween party or a Halloween STEM activity. This was fun but messy and I recommend taking your time with it. Equipment you will need to make jelly worms: Jelly cubes Mixing jug 100 plastic straws How to make jelly worms: The first stage was to mix up the jelly. We used two packs of jelly cubes which we melted in hot water, before topping…

One of my favourite craft books is pretty in patchwork doll quilts. I’ve already made one of the quilts from it (the I Spy quilt) but I’ve also had my eye on the really pretty ticker tape doll quilt by Cathy Gaubert for my daughter. So over a year ago, yep you read that correctly, I bought a colourful rainbow of fabric from an Etsy store and it wasn’t until a few months ago that I got it out again. It felt strange finally cutting into each piece but now I have at least I’ll be able to use the…
