    Crafting with coloured sand

One thing I love about crafting with my children is the chance to try new craft activities with them. They are always keen to try anything and were pretty excited about a parcel of coloured sand products we received from Baker Ross. We received 6 bottles of Fluorescent Coloured Sand, plastic animal sand art bottles and sand picture sheets. First we made the Animal Sand Art bottles. The pack contained 6 different animals, each had a screw top, as well as a funnel. The children used the bottles of sand to create colourful layers. You can either pour or sprinkle…

    Win Disney Cinderella Fairytale Jewellery

My 3 year old loves to dress up as her favourite princess so was pretty happy to be sent the new Frozen Colour Changing Necklace to review. Featuring images of princesses, Elsa and Anna, the two necklaces change from white into a deep blue and pink in sunlight. Perfect for Olaf’s favourite season – summer! They haven’t been taken off since she opened them. The Frozen Colour Changing Necklace is now available in a two pack priced at £5.00 from Toys R Us, Asda, Tesco and Sainsbury’s. A few weeks ago we took part in a really fun Twitter party…

    Painted pebble cactus plants

I’ve been having lots of fun crafting recently, I know I always say that but this is supposed to be a craft blog. I love looking through my photo stream and seeing the photos of all my makes. My children have been keeping me busy lately but I still found time to make some painted pebble cactus plants with them. I would love to keep some succulents but when I went to buy some I got a handful of needles. Instead I thought it would be fun to make some kid-friendly versions. My 5 year old helped me paint some…

Top tips for creating a Summer fairy garden

What is a fairy garden? It’s a miniature garden for fairies to live in. My 3 year loves Tinkerbell and after we had watched Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue we were inspired to make our own together. Since then we’ve made a couple, both temporary houses indoor and a few permanent fairy houses outside. Creating a fairy garden is a great activity that all the family can do together and is a great way to spend time enjoying the sunshine. The best thing is that they can be added to over time so why not start a fairy garden…

    Sylvanian Families fun

I’ve had lots of luck charity shopping recently as my daughter and I found some boxed Sylvanian Families sets. We snapped them up and she’s been playing with them ever since. We found Madeline’s Boutique and Highfields Barn but her favourite is Madeline’s Boutique as she loves to shop and pink is her favourite colour! Today she was allowed to pick a new families set to come and live with us as a reward for mastering potty training. She chose the Sheep Family which has been top of her list for a while. She was sent a cute little Day…

    Scrabble tile badges

Did you know it’s Scrabble Week? This May over 6,500 new playable Scrabble words join the Collins Official Scrabble Wordlist. To celebrate the biggest update in 4 years, Collins are hosting Scrabble Week which runs from May 21-28 2015. I love playing Scrabble and crafting with my vintage Scrabble tiles. I felt I should make something special to mark Scrabble Week so I made some fun Scrabble tile badges. My two favourite things (after my family of course) is sewing and drinking tea so I made simple badges using my Scrabble tile stash. I used: Vintage Scrabble tiles 2mm cork…

    Shipping forecast quilt

I like to have a few sewing projects on the go. Top of my list is just about any of the projects from Hearty Good Wishes, a beautiful craft book of coastal quilts from Janet Clare. Pre-children I always went to sleep after I had heard the shipping forecast on Radio 4. Now my bed time is much earlier but I do still love to catch the shipping forecast whenever I can. Hearty Good Wishes contains several patterns for quilts and wall hangings and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to make the Good Old Blighty…

How to make a Lego clock

One of my favourite things about being a parent is the chance to explore toys the second time around. I’m a huge advocate of learning through play and I love to see my children enjoy toys that I also played with. Some toys are classics like Lego and Playmobil and I love to plan how I can use these toys when my children no longer want them. Over the weekend I experimented with a few spare Lego Duplo blocks to create a colourful Lego Duplo clock, similar to the Playmobil clock I made a few years ago. Equipment to make…

    Monday happy things

Goodness me the weeks are going by so quickly. Thankfully my Monday Happy Things post is here to remind me of all the fun things we got up to the previous week. Yesterday my daughter and I spent the day in London. We visited the Museum of Childhood to see Small Stories: At Home in a Dolls’ House. I love dolls houses and this was a beautiful exhibition covering  the small stories of 12 dolls’ houses from the past 300 years. We also saw The Alice Look which was a much smaller display celebrating the 150th anniversary of Alice’s Adventures…
