I really should be kept away from my local craft store as I couldn’t resist picking up a roll of Finding Dory Duck Tape. I love Duck Tape and the patterned ones are appealing to both me and my children. Have you seen Finding Dory yet? We’ve seen it twice already, I just can’t resist Hank! With a few weeks until the children go back to school we’ve been making some back to school crafts with the Finding Dory Duck Tape. Duck Tape is versatile so we used it to make wristlet keyrings, perfect for identifying book bags, lunch bags…

My children love receiving mail and their favourite type of mail is a craft package. My 6 year has already told me he wants to be an artist when he grows up, so I am happy to indulge him with craft supplies and activities to explore his hobby. We were offered a Strange Snail discovery box which is a crafty subscription box for kids aged 5-8 year. Each box is themed and activities are tailored to the Key Stage 1 curriculum, so the boxes are educational as well fun. Our box was about the Solar System and called Planet and…

I was shopping this morning, managing to tick off more of my Back to School shopping list. I couldn’t help but look round the homeware department and found a few lovely Orla Kiely displays. Our kitchen makeover is taking a lot of our free time. We are in desperate need of more storage and are hoping to move around a few of our white goods and squeeze in some extra cupboards. We’re having another consultation tomorrow and I’m beginning to feel excited about sorting this room out. We’ve spent so long discussing it that I couldn’t help but start to…

There’s something about long summer days that makes us all want to be outside as much as possible. We’ve had some lovely weather lately, packed up a picnic and gone out for the day. At the beginning of the school holidays we popped down to Halfords and bought both children lovely new bikes. They’ve been out on these quite a lot but their scooters haven’t been forgotten. As we live so close to school the kids scoot to school every day. They love their scooters and it’s always easy to identify them. My 4 year old has customised hers with…

I have a fun round up of 25 apple crafts and activities for pre-schoolers. We love this time of year, long warm sunny days with the promise of leaves turning golden brown, going blackberry picking and Apple Days. There are so many lovely crafts and activities for kids and I enjoyed bringing together my top 25 apple crafts for kids. 25 apple crafts for kids Apple Day is an annual celebration of apples and orchards, held in October. It is celebrated mainly in the United Kingdom and traditionally falls on 21st October, the date of the first such event in…

I’m really enjoying the summer holidays. I’m not sure if it’s because the children are a little bit older or that we’ve not had a moment to be bored. I struggled to make a short list for my weekly Monday Happy List post, we’re just too busy at the moment! However, if I have to choose my 5 favourite things over the last week they would be as follows: My 6 year old was invited to an amazing Lego birthday party at the start of the week. It was well organised with 3 different Lego challenges. My son is Lego…

The children have been spending a lot of time in their garden playhouse this summer. We have been helping them make the space their own and personalising it with their favourite posters and beanbags. Today we made our own Swallows and Amazons inspired bunting to decorate the playhouse. Swallows and Amazons inspired bunting We used: A4 white card, Sizzix machine and bunting die, scalpel, cutting mat, contact paper and cellophane sheets. First I cut bunting flags using my Sizzix machine and the Bunting die to create 6 flags. Then I drew a swallow on half of the flags and a…

One of my favourite things about being a parent is the chance to play with toys, especially those I enjoyed as a child. As a child of the 80s I remember the classic memory game Simon, first released in 1978. Well guess what? It has been given a modern twist. The classic fast-action game where players need to watch, remember, and repeat patterns is back! Touch-free technology is introduced in this edition with Simon Air recognising when a player follows the colour sequence by sensing their motions! I loved this game when I was younger so I was really excited…

So far this summer we’ve been enjoying a Staycation. My husband has been recuperating after an operation so we have been exploring our local area which makes a nice change. The weather has been a bit of a mixed bag but we’ve had some really hot days and we’re looking forward to the mini heatwave which has been predicted this week. Whether holidaying at home or abroad good sun protection is a must. The children have been out in the sun a lot and our sand pit and paddling pool have had a lot of use. We’ve been keeping safe…
