Over the last few months we’ve been exploring the area around Avebury in Wiltshire. I love ancient sites and I’m trying to encourage my children to see the beauty and significance of the Avebury World Heritage Site too. TheWest Kennet Long Barrow is one of the largest, impressive and accessible Neolithic chambered tombs in Britain. Built in around 3650 BC, it was used for a short time as a burial chamber, with nearly 50 people being buried here before the chambers were blocked. It is now part of the Avebury World Heritage Site. The walk to West Kennet Long Barrow…

My husband has been spending a lot of time watching the recent launch of Falcon 9 which transports satellites by SpaceX. We all love watching the rockets launch and that inspired our latest craft activity – a burning asteroid craft! Our latest box of Bostik craft supplies recently arrived and this months’ theme was Space. We haven’t done many space crafts but our craft box contained a selection of products including Bostik White Glu and a polystyrene ball. It was quite simple to turn it into a flaming asteroid burning through space. First we cut the polystyrene ball into two…

The weather is warming up nicely which means we have been spending plenty of time in the garden. Every week we take part in the A-Z Play at Home series, this is all about simple play and learning ideas inspired by the every day items we have in our homes. The letter G inspired us to get outside and enjoy the garden with an impromptu ABC letter hunt. This was so simple to set up but kept my children occupied after school for ages. Garden ABC letter hunt We used our lovely garden and a set of alphabetical letter we’ve…

I follow a few blogs where the family have recently had a baby. Although I’m a bit squeamish about reading the birth stories I love reading monthly updates. Babies grow and develop so quickly and I really miss when my children were babies. Those baby days weren’t without problems. Adjusting to parenthood was fun but challenging and I remember have some trusty parenting books by my bedside so I could constantly check my son was doing the right things. Although my son is only 7 I look back at my precious photographs and realise I hardly took any compared to…

Blogging is feeling like hard work since I started my new job. Working outside of the home is tiring and I’m beginning to resent the constant emails I receive which expect so much in return for so little. It’s not why I started blogging and I’m not sure how I’ve got stuck in such a rut. So I’ve decided to spend time writing about the things I want to – my children. I’m not sure what they’re both going through at the moment (other than perhaps a slightly stressed mum with a new job) but Little Sis has been quite…

My children love toys. The ages 5 and 7 seem to be the perfect age and I love watching them play with their toys. With the Summer holidays looming Tesco Direct kindly sent us some of the latest Lego products to review at home and get us inspired for some of this Summer’s blockbuster films. Lego are a favourite product in our house and I can’t believe how lucky the children were to receive Beware the Vulture (from Lego Super Heroes set 76083), Thunder Hollow Crazy 8 Race (Lego Junior Cars 3 set 10744), and Harley Quinn Dorm (from Lego…

You know how much we love making handmade gifts. We love to come up with our own ideas but sometimes it is nice to be inspired by someone else’s idea. Hobbycraft is our go-to show when we want to pick up some craft supplies but did you know they have some fantastic tutorials on their site too? We saw a fabulous instructions for making a Framed Family Tree and were delighted when then sent us the supplies to make our own version. Both children love to make things but I made this with my 7 year old whilst my daughter…

I’m so pleased that my 5 year old takes after me and loves stationery. She collects rubbers and stickers, the cuter the better. So when we were offered one of the new Blippo Surprise Kawaii Stationery Bags I had to accept. We love all things kawaii and I knew this would be a great way to discover some fun, cute and colourful products. The Blippo Surprise Kawaii Stationery Bag is inspired by the Fukubukuro lucky mystery bags which are popular in Japan. The bags are packed with random kawaii items of cute and practical stationery. Each bag includes a mix…
