Opposites attract

Posted on April 25, 2011February 19, 2019 by jenny

We’re currently on holiday so I have been lucky to have several new charity shops to browse.

Last week we were in Teignmouth where I found this beauty:

a vintage Tonka truck. I was strangely excited when I saw this as it wasn’t plastic but metal. There’s a little bit of rust but nothing that can’t be fixed and it’s perfect for Edward to play with in his new sandpit! It’s quite big so I couldn’t hide it in my handbag but fortunately my husband liked it so was happy to buy it.

We’re currently on the Isle of Wight where I found this small brooch, probably 1950s, for me:

It’s very kitsch but Cath Kidston-esque and I couldn’t resist it for £1.

I’m trying to be good and not buy too much but it’s hard when I’m surrounded by so many great charity shops!

You can’t leave a Tonka truck behind! And it’s not like a brooch takes up room… I think you’ve been incredibly restrained so far.

Wow – that Tonka is in great shape! Most little boys played their toys to death. Lucky!
