I’ve had lots of fun decorating my mantel this month. The Autumnal colours have crept in and our nature table has been bursting with leaves, pinecones and seeds which the children have adored picking up.
My vintage bus blind is still in its usual place on the mantel. We have done a little decorating this month but still haven’t decided on a permanent home for this. I love it though so I’m glad it’s still somewhere central.
There’s a touch of colour from the two munchkins my children picked up at Waitrose and the pinecone garland I made.
It was lovely and simple. I chose some pine cones, dipped each one in Annie Sloan paint and glued on a small hama bead so I could thread them and hang them over the mirror. I love them and might have to do something similar as part of our Christmas decorations.
Our mantel is uncluttered at the moment. The vintage tin candle I made is also on display, alongside some small glass bottles containing moss covered twigs. So far I’ve managed to resist my children’s desires to put the Halloween decorations up, I don’t think my mantel will be looking so grown up by the time they’ve finished.
