I’ve been having a great clear out over the weekend. We have a friend coming to stay which means we needed to clear out the spare room. It’s become a bit of a dumping ground so we spent a couple of hours sorting stuff out to sell or take to our local charity shop.
I haven’t written here about our charity shopping exploits for a while. Since we’ve moved I have to admit to visiting our local charity shops more often as our local high street has lots of them, and there are not a lot of other shops to visit! I find it difficult to look for the things I want to as both my children are now old enough to find toys and books. I often hear shouts of “Can I have this?” before I’ve even had a sniff at the vintage fabrics.
Last week we went to Pinner which is a great place to visit (lovely parks and child-friendly cafes!). By pure chance we visited a charity shop where we found a brand new Peppa Pig Peppa’s World of Playsets for Little Sis at a fraction of the original price. The toddler found a beautiful wooden clock with magnetic numbers – perfect for my little time-obsessed man!
Despite my moaning I did quite well at Oxfam. A wooden darning mushroom, an embroidery hoop, three vintage cloth badges and an old cigar box. I have a thing for vintage advertising so picked it up and was delighted to find it was full of vintage cigarette cards! All for under five pounds. I almost ran out of the shop with my goodies but I restrained myself!

Love the cigarette cards, so many thing you can use them for!
My Pinterest board is looking sadly empty though!
