STEM at home with National Geographic experiment-based kits

I love a bit of home learning. My 7 year old just loves science, so much so that she was awarded her Science badge at Beavers last night! We had fun trying some experiments at home together. So I knew she would enjoy trying some of the new National Geographic™ Kits which we were gifted.

National Geographic Shark Tooth Dig Kit

My children have both tried these kinds of kits before. They love the challenge of trying to excavate to find the treasure. So they both knew exactly what to do. The first kit we opened was The Shark Tooth Dig Kit. The Shark Dig Kit will keep marine biologists busy digging for three GENUINE shark teeth. The kit contained 1 dig brick, 3 types of Shark teeth, 2 excavation tools, 1 magnifying glass and a learning guide.

The dig brick was shaped like a shark which we thought was a nice touch!

I know how messy these kind of toys can be so I set my daughter up with a tray to keep everything on. She started excavating her dig brick using the excavation tools.

It didn’t take her long to find the first tooth but you can add water if you need to soften the brick a little.

There were 3 shark teeth hidden inside the dig brick – an Otodus shark, Crown shark and Sand Tiger. We liked the fact there was an information booklet so we could find out more about the teeth and animals.

My 8 year old had fun with the Gemstone Dig Kit where kids can uncover dazzling amethyst, quartz, and tiger’s eye gemstones to add to their rock collections!
