The Marvellous Activity Book

Moone Boy The Marvellous Activity Book blog hop {Imaginary Friend gingerbread biscuits}

Posted on October 30, 2016 by jenny

Today we’re taking part in the Marvellous Moone Boy Activities blog hop! Have you read any of the Moone Boy books yet?

Welcome to the world of Martin Moone, who is totally fed up with being the only boy in a family of girls. He’s desperate for a decent wingman to help him navigate his idiotic life. So when his best pal Padraic suggests Martin get an imaginary friend, or ‘IF’ for short, he goes for it.

Start reading Martin Moone’s adventures with Moone Boy: The Blunder Years by Chris O’Dowd and Nick V. Murphy, followed by the second story The Fish Detective.

Marvellous Moone Boy Activities blog hop

To celebrate the publication of Moone Boy: The Marvellous Activity Book by Chris O’Dowd and Nick V. Murphy I am taking part in the special Marvellous Moone Boy Activities blog hop aka Moone Boy ‘7 Yections in a Week’ blog tour.

The Marvellous Activity Book

Moone Boy: The Marvellous Activity Book

This is no ordinary book. Most books just sit there and tell you one long story, but not this one – this is an activity book. So do some stretches, take a deep breath and commence activation.

Greetings! My name is Sean ‘Caution’ Murphy, Martin Moone’s BIG (Best Imaginary Friend). I’m here to help you find your very own Imaginary Friend as I guide you through this bumper book of games, puzzles, jokes and crafts. Oh, and there’s some brand-new Moone Boy short stories and the first ever Moone Boy comic strip.

My son had never read any of the Moone Boy books before and this was actually the perfect one to introduce him to the characters. He loves this style of book and we had fun reading it together.

The activity book is divided into Yections, not Sections. As we are the final participants in the blog hop we were given Yection 7 – Why Wont It End? to tell you about. Lucky for us because it’s never too early for Christmas crafting! In this Yection you can make your own advent calendar, Christmas cookies or plan what Christmas present you’re going to give to your IF.

You can probably guess we decided to make the Christmas cookies, especially as there was a recipe for Bridget Cross’s Christmas (gingerbread) Cookies. We followed the recipe and made our own Imaginary Friend gingerbread biscuits. My children love baking and thought it was pretty funny to make and decorate their own IF’s. Of course they had to eat them too!
