Family Life Monday Happy List

Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

Remembrance Day painted rock

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend, especially if you were taking part in the Remembrance Day events. Each week I start off by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

I’ve managed to get my crafting groove back! It’s been tricky juggling work with my children but I’ve been making a conscious effort to craft after I’ve got home from work and picked the children up from school. Last week I made a delicious batch of gingerbread fudge which I can’t wait to share with you soon.

Wildchild Designs Scorpio papercut

It was my sisters birthday last week and I really wanted to make one of the Zodiac papercut designs by WildChild Designs. I’ve admired them for ages so enjoyed cutting the Scorpio paper cutting template for her. I backed it with a simple coloured card but it would look so good with infills.

Tatty Devine earrings

It’s a little early to be thinking about Christmas (we’re banned in our house until my daughter’s birthday) but I couldn’t resist these Tatty Devine mistletoe ear-rings. They arrived last week and I’m looking forward to wearing them as soon as we’re in December.

We bought quite a few pumpkins this year and I wanted to be mindful about how we used them. We decided to upcycle ours into simple pumpkin bird feeders which turned out really well. My daughter is trying to get her Animal Friend badge at Beavers so anything to feed our little bird friends is good.

We had a a lovely weekend in Oxford with all the family. We stayed at Malmaison Oxford which is a converted prison and very quirky and cool, the kids loved it. We had a lovely time exploring Oxford and even managed a little grown up shopping time whilst Nanny took them to the see The Grinch at the cinema.

Oh I love your paper cutting! It’s absolutely beautiful – I need to find more time to do creative stuff just for me, trying to get the juggle right between work and kids stuff can be really hard.

I love the paper cutting too, that is seriously beautiful and so effective! I think it is so important to do things for yourself in between the madness of parenting, I really need to make more time to do some crafty things
