days out Family Life London Monday Happy List

Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend. I was pretty happy to see the weekend after going back to work. Each week I start off by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.

Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things

I started the week by going back to work and a training course. At the end of last term I got a job in a secondary school and I found it pretty strange not only going back to work but in a new environment too. I was pretty hesitant about going back to my job after 6 weeks holiday but thankfully it has been much better than I expected. I really struggle with a new routine but I think I did ok and am looking forward to another busy week at school.

Of course it wasn’t only me going back to school, my children did too! My daughter has gone into her last year at Infant School and my son went into Year 4. I know my sos isn’t happy with his new teacher but I’m hoping he’ll soon settle into his new year. They mixed up his classmates for the first time since he started in Reception so I know he’s finding it pretty tough.

I admit I felt pretty tired after a day at school, so coming home to pick up 2 tired children was tough. We kept it simple with making slime, opening Lego trading cards and playing the new Incredibles 2 PS4 game.

NFL Kickoff at Piccadilly 2018

On Saturday we had VIP tickets to the NFL Kickoff which was taking place in Piccadilly. Both my children love football so I knew they would enjoy the day. We got to watch NFL UK Live with NFL legends, Matt Forte and Paul Posluszny; watch the Jacksonville Jaguars Cheerleaders; and saw the NFL mascots, including Swoop from the Eagles. The kids played on the NFL mini-pitch and had a go in the Subway ball pit too. We had loads of fun!

Yesterday was much quieter. There was some homework to be done but we also played in the garden and went to the park. I’m still adjusting to squeezing the housework around my job, and it felt like there was little time to indulge my hobbies. I bought a few new craft kits so I’m going to have to make some serious time to make these over the coming weeks.

Have a great week everyone.
