Happy Monday everyone. Hope you had a great weekend and are enjoying the Bank Holiday weekend. I love starting off each week by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I always enjoy writing.
Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things
Last week I had a second interview for a job I really wanted. I recently decided it’s time to return to work outside of the home. It’s not that I don’t enjoy being a full-time blogger or self-employed any more, I just feel after 8 years it’s time to try something new. Before my children I was a full-time museum curator but I’d like to work in admin now. I’ve been exam invigilating for a year and have plenty of good experience. So I was pretty excited to find an interesting job and over the moon to be shortlisted for an interview. The interview went well and I was called back for a second interview which I felt went well. So I was a little disappointed absolutely gutted to get the call saying I hadn’t got the job. I had a little cry about it and am now trying to think of all the positive things, like the great interview experience I got from the process.
As we were staying with family we made the most of having a babysitter and went to see Solo: A Star Wars Story. I love Star Wars films and was excited about seeing this spin off. It certainly didn’t disappoint. In the film young Han Solo finds adventure when he joins a gang of galactic smugglers, including a 196-year-old Wookie named Chewbacca. Indebted to the gangster Dryden Vos, the crew devises a daring plan to travel to the mining planet Kessel to steal a batch of valuable coaxium. In need of a fast ship, Solo meets Lando Calrissian, the suave owner of the perfect vessel for the dangerous mission – the Millennium Falcon. It was so good, especially the droid L3-37, which might have been my favourite character although it was good to see Han, Chewie, Lando Calrissian and Wicket.
My 8 year old has wanted to visit Stonehenge since he studied it at school last term. We’re English Heritage members so booked tickets for this weekend. We drive past it quite often on the way to visit family so it was lovely to finally visit. We booked tickets for 10am and we were all surprised how busy it was. Despite the crowds it was still an amazing experience.
The Bank Holiday weather has been mixed but it didn’t stop us hiring a boat and trying our hand at boating at Warminster Town Park. I’d love to say the kids loved it, but only one of them did. There was also a splash park and for once we were prepared with towels so the kids could play in the water.
I’ve been taking some time to craft this week. I’ve been stitching the projects in the latest Craftpod subscription box and we’ve made a start on some handmade Father’s Day gifts, including this simple painted Father’s Day rock. I’ll be sharing some more kids crafts tutorials this week.
Have a lovely week everyone!
