I love starting off each week by writing my Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things blog post. It’s a great chance to reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week. It’s been pretty busy as my children have been on half term for the last week. We’ve also been away for a few days in Wiltshire and spent some time at home too.
Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things
We were away for Pancake Day so managed to enjoy it twice – once at my mum’s and again at home. Netflix sent us a fun parcel of goodies to help us celebrate. I wrote a post about what we’ve been binge watching lately – Altered Carbon anyone?
My kids were super excited about Valentine’s Day this year but it was a shame it came so close to Pancake Day. I gave the children each a card (Cath Kidston for one and Meri Meri for the other – I had fun choosing them!). They also received a personalised tin with some chocolates in from Cotton Twist. I bought my husband a gorgeous papercut card designed by Poppy Chancellor. My daughter was excited to celebrate Galentine’s Day with the latest LOL Surprise Confetti Pop toy.
On Saturday we popped into London for the day and used our English Heritage membership to visit the Jewel Tower, and the Chapter House and Pyx Chamber inside Westminster Abbey. It’s fun trying to explain such historic buildings to my children but they enjoyed the chance to see somewhere new.
I enjoyed some charity shopping when we were visiting my mum’s. My son picked up a set of Captain Underpants books which he was really pleased with. He’s finished all the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books so needed something new to read. I found a vintage Fisher Price telephone to add to my collection and picked up a gorgeous Victory wooden picture puzzle clock which I’ve been making with my daughter to help her understand time a bit better.
We went and watched Early Man at the cinema whilst we were at my mum’s. I wasn’t sure if I really wanted to see it but it was pouring with rain and wanted to do something. It was actually really funny, if a little bizarre. The children loved it so I would definitely recommend it.
Have a great week everyone.
