Last week was super busy getting ready for my daughter’s 6th birthday as well as the start of Advent. I love the 1st December, but it requires a lot of effort to make sure the kids have their favourite Advent Calendars and everything is wrapped and ready for them.
Monday mindfulness – 5 happy things
The highlight of last week definitely has to be my daughter turning 6. Her birthday felt very spread out as she had her birthday party a few weeks before. She received some lovely gifts – lots of PJ Masks and Sylvanian Families toys – and had a good day at school.
Later in the week we celebrated the 1st December and Advent – there was our annual book advent calendar, chocolate calendars, the homemade Sylvanian Families calendar I made and the cheeky Elf on the Shelf put new festive bedding over the children whilst they slept. It was a lot of effort but I love seeing them enjoy their advent calendars every day.
We had a lovely weekend in Wiltshire visiting my mum. We found a new place to enjoy a hot chocolate (the Three Daggers Farm Shop in Eddington), visited the Westbury Christmas Fair and got to see the Christmas lights being switched on. The children had a great time (even if they didn’t go to bed until 10 every night!).
I almost feel that at this point in December I can begin to sit back and relax. The Christmas shopping is done, costumes are ready for school Nativity plays and we can enjoy the madness of December knowing we have Christmas Day to look forward to.
At the weekend we even iced the Christmas cakes and the Christmas pudding is maturing in the fridge. Time to plan some recipes, including mince pies in the toastie machine. I found a great recipe online which I can’t wait to try.
Have a great week!
