Monday mindfulness {5 happy things}

I’m really struggling to sit down and write today. I think it has something to do with my ridiculously long to do list. My daughters birthday is coming up and I have a fun birthday party to organise! She has opted for a party at our local soft play centre and can’t wait to play with all her friends.

On Saturday I attended the first Mumsnet Micro-Influencers event at Huckletree in West London. I’d stopped going to blog conferences as I found they were always pitched at bloggers starting out. This was a much more targeted event for micro-influencers. I’ve never classed myself as a micro-influencer but I suppose I am since I was invited to attend the event! I have a good following across Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and Pinterest, not forgetting this little blog which started me off 12 years ago. It was a good day which I’ll try to write about later this week.

Yesterday we attended a service at our very special chapel in Ruislip woods for Remembrance Sunday. It’s always really moving and I was glad both my children are Beaver Scouts and took part. Afterwards we went to watch Paddington 2 whilst my son and husband saw the Lego Ninjago Movie. Paddington 2 was amazing, I might even say it was better than the first film. Whilst we were in town we were given some of the new Lego Collector’s Trading Cards in Toys R Us – something else for the kids to collect!

Did you know today was World Kindness Day? Inspired by the Small Kindness Movement, born in Japan in 1963 when Tokyo University president Mr Seiji Kaya started a crusade to get everyone to practice a little act of kindness. He hoped that by starting small it would spread, and one day be the norm.

I was a huge fan of Animal Crossing and played it a lot on my DS back in the day pre-kids. I was so excited to learn that it was coming to iOS/Android via Animal Crossing Pocket Camp. I’ve been playing it quite a lot and it’s so good. My children keep asking me if I’m playing, which is probably a sign that I need to put my phone down more when they’re around.

And that’s it, I could only think of 4 things this week 🙂

  1. I so wish I’d known about World Kindness Day! I must make a note of it for next year and plan some fun ‘kindnesses’ to celebrate! 🙂
