Happy Monday everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. Last week was hectic with both Halloween and Bonfire Night for our little family. We were out every evening which was lovely, but also strange now that the clocks have gone back and the evenings are so dark. Before I forget, if you voted for me in the dotcomgiftshop blog awards then thank you so much – I only went and won the Best Family Craft Blog!
My children get really excited about Halloween. They had a fun evening at Beavers, dressed in their scariest Halloween costumes. The next evening we went out Trick or Treating in our local neighbourhood. We only visited friends or houses with pumpkins outside them, and we had a few visitors to our house too. The children loved going out in the dark, especially as we bumped into some friends and went around with them. They are still eating all the sweets they were given.
My daughter joined Beavers this week but decided to give up Rainbows which I’m a little sad about. Sometimes I think she lives in her brothers shadow and I liked the fact that Rainbows was her thing. All her other activities she does with her brother and I liked the fact they both did something on their own. Unfortunately her Rainbows group changed leader and she wasn’t so happy there. I’m not sure how she’s going to get on at Beavers as the boys are really boisterous, but fingers crossed she’ll stick with it.
On Thursday we went to a local firework display at my son’s school. It is really close and quite small so I know the kids won’t get scared, or more importantly, lost. I love fireworks and they always put on a good display. We heard a lot of fireworks going off all weekend which really upset the kids. Neither of them could get off to sleep so we ended up with one in our bed and the other in the spare room!
We spent Saturday out in London at two great events. The first was the Baby born Wonderland at Queen’s ice skating rink in West London. We got to see some of the latest toys in the range and go ice skating. This was only the second time we had been ice skating as a family. I really enjoyed it but the kids were a little reticent.
Then it was over to East London for the annual PlayStation Family Showcase. My husband and son are huge gamers so loved this event last year. We got to try out some brilliant new games and learn a little more about PlayStation for the family. We already own a PS4 but I enjoyed finding out some new tips and tricks. You can read more about our afternoon here.
Here’s hoping for a slightly quieter week. I have Christmas shopping to do and some fun crafting too!
