Monday mindfulness {5 happy things}

Half term just flew by for me. It was lovely to go away for the whole week and we caught up with all my family which was brilliant. I had been super organised and pre-written all my blog posts which meant I hardly spent any time on my laptop all week. I even found time to do some sewing in the evening!

Our week was packed with adventures in the fresh air which was just what we all needed.

Whilst we were staying with my mum we made the Christmas cakes and puddings. Forget Stir Up Sunday (this year it falls on Sunday 26th November, traditionally the last Sunday before Advent). The house smelled wonderful and the kids loved getting involved in this family tradition.

We had some great days out to make sure we all got plenty of fresh air. We stopped off at Old Sarum on the way to visit my sister. This is an amazing site and had lots of Halloween events going on. The children got dressed up and took part in spooky crafts and story telling.

I love charity shopping and managed to spend some time on my own to do this. I did bring a few things home with me, including vintage Fisher Price for my collection, some board games and beautiful 1970s Liberty of London fabric. I think I found 4 old curtains in a print I’ve never seen before -‘Kasak’ Collier Campbell for Liberty. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it all but at 50p a piece I couldn’t leave them for someone else!

When we were staying on the Isle of Wight we re-visited The Needles Old Battery. This is a National Trust property which meant our day out was free! The weather was hot and sunny so it felt more like a summer holiday day out than the end of October. We walked for miles and the views were worth it.

Yesterday we squeezed in a trip to KidZania London at Westfield London Shopping Centre. Over half term kids had the chance to transform into their favourite Halloween character and take a dance class at the KidZania Theatre where they could learn how to do their spooky Halloween dance. My kids loved taking part and you can read more about our day out here.

Last week we were out in shorts and tshirts. Today the kids went back to school in winter coats and hats. Bring on Autumn!

    Kidzania sounds very cool. They always have something exciting going on in Westfield.

    I was going to make our Christmas cake on Sunday but completely forgot to buy the ingredients! I always think Stir up Sunday feels too late! Hopefully I’ll remember to make ours next weekend.

    Haha same for winter coats here too!
