Monday Happy List

Monday Happy Things {Week 402}

London embroidery hoop

Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to sit down and write.

Monday Happy Things {Week 402}

We had another busy week. I  finished the embroidery hoop I had been working on, based on a photo I too on my commute to work. Since then I’ve been working on The Summer Sampler mini quilt which I started last year. One of the blocks was a little complicated and I wasn’t sure how to finish it off, so I packed it away and forgot about it! I decided to get it back out and have another go as I have so many WIPs that need finishing off. I was glad I did get it out as I finished the blocks and stitched them all together. Over the weekend I’ve been hand quilting the quilt top.

My daughter was awarded Cub of the Year at the annual Scouting awards over the weekend. Both my children are in scouting and love the activities they do. My daughter is coming to the end of her time at Cubs and was delighted to receive an award. She gets involved with everything and it felt like the perfect award now her time there is coming to an end.

We went out for a delicious lunch at The Junction in Tufnell Park where we used to live. Then we went for a walk in beautiful  Waterlow Park, near our old place. I love being back in London, rather than the suburban area we now live in. There’s so much more going on and it just seems a lot more lively than where we live.

colourful cake

My daughter wanted to bake a cake for her school DT homework. We spent all day baking a cake which she then cut the middle out of and filled with sweets. Then she decorated the top with fresh fruit to make a union flag. It’s the strangest mix of cake but it works! It tasted pretty good too which is all that matters.

Have a great week!
