Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write.
Monday Happy Things {Week 361}
Last week my son started secondary school which was a bit of a rollercoaster for him and us. He looked very grown up in his new uniform. Two school runs in different places at two different times is very exciting (and exhausting!).
My daughter has also gone into a new year which she is getting used to. Last week we had a mini heatwave and she was lucky to have a fun playdate in the sunshine. Her friends have a water slide (and a very long garden!) so she had loads of fun sliding around after school. We also managed to squeeze in a few Science experiments after school too!
I finished reading The Man Who Mistook His Job for His Life. Many of us spend eighteen years or more living with family and building our personality; but most of us also spend fifty years (or 90,000 hours) in the workplace. With the pull of the familial so strong, we unconsciously re-enact our personal past in our professional present – even when it holds us back. Written by business psychotherapist Naomi Shragai, the book helps you transform how you think about yourself and your working life.
Sainsbury’s Heroes on a Mission cards are back and I managed to pick up the new album and some packs at the weekend. The album costs £2.50 whilst cards are totally free for every £10 spent in store and online. There are 144 cards to collect and the cards and albums teach kids about how to help the planet as well as different healthier foods. Cards are available until 12th October so hopefully we will have plenty of time to fill our album like we did last year.
I stitched up a sweet initial banner over the weekend. I’ve been wanting to make something for a while and found a lovely pattern on Etsy from A Cat Named Fish. I used a ready made banner and it only took a few hours to stitch.

September 13, 2021 at 2:04 pmI hope they both settle in to their new school years, and two school runs at different schools does sound exhausting. It was lovely having our mini heatwave last week sadly I think that is it for this year now

September 13, 2021 at 6:24 pmIt’s great to hear she is getting back to normality. Mine missed having playdates before. The waterslide sounds like good fun. Mine want one but we can’t use one where we are.

September 15, 2021 at 12:08 pmWe have picked up a book and been collecting the cards too! Anytime we go in , Olivia is asking the lady for cards, haha! It sounds lovely that your children have been able to have playdates again.

September 15, 2021 at 9:07 pmI would love to read The Man Who Mistook His Job for His Life as I know a lot of friends who spend way too much working. I am also collecting the Heroes on a Mission cards as I find I get kids to do chores in exchange for the cards
