Monday happy things

Half term has meant a welcome break from the normal routine. My mum came to visit and we spent a lovely few days at her house in Wiltshire too.

My son’s new bed was delivered. He was so excited about swapping his cot bed for a proper big boy bed. His enthusiasm didn’t last long when he fell out of bed on his first night but we’ve now put a bed guard up and he’s much happier.

We spent a day at Hughenden Manor, one of my favourite local National Trust places. The rain stopped as we arrived so we were able to enjoy the gardens, the house, and some fun Halloween activities such as a spooky trail and pumpkin carving.

We made our monthly trip to the Frome Artisan Market on Sunday. It’s a wonderful market with all types of stalls, from craft to food and vintage furniture. This time we ventured up to the top of St Catherine’s Hill to see the Suitcase Sale where items really are sold from vintage suitcases.

I really wanted to visit the Kaffe Fasset exhibition at the American Museum and we made it on the final day. The American Museum is a fascinating place with an amazing quilt and folk art collection amongst other things. The Kaffe Fasset exhibition was colourful and inspiring and I’m so glad we managed to see it before it closed.

I have an interview for a part-time job this week. It both terrifies me and excites me that someone thinks I might be capable of paid work after five years spent bringing up my children.
