I’m so happy that it’s half-term, I know I keep saying it but it’s true!
My 2 year old and I had a day in the West End. The weather was perfect for walking around and I really enjoyed the Anarchy &Beauty exhibition at the NPG. It was hard work entertaining my 2 year old whilst we walked around, it saddens me that young children are so excluded from this kind of thing, but we treated ourselves to lunch at Wagamama afterwards. We spotted this fun Cath Kidston decorated bus at Piccadilly (one of 58 painted scale New Routemaster bus sculptures) and enjoyed choosing all the items we would buy in the Cath Kidston Christmas shop if we won the lottery.
This time of year makes me want to de-clutter and I’ve lost count of the number of bags I’ve taken to the charity shop this week. We’ve also put shelves up and bought storage for the kitchen.
You may have noticed my small gingerbread obsession. We went to Ikea on Saturday and I stocked up. I have a tin of Pepparkaka, gingerbread biscuits for hanging on our tree, a gingerbread house and gingerbread tree to put together and decorate with the children, as well as some blocks of gingerbread dough. That little collection should safely see us through ’til Christmas.
My 4 year old spent Saturday morning baking cakes for his friends’ birthday party. It was so sweet that he wanted to make some cakes and my heart melted a little.
We had a lovely week-end, managing to tire the children out so successfully that we got a lie in yesterday, despite gaining an hour when the clocks went back. Of course we lost that hour this morning when the children woke up bright and early but it’s all about the small things 🙂
