Last week I had a job interview. It felt good to put some nice clothes on and talk about my career pre-children. Unfortunately I didn’t get the job but the interview experience was really useful so I’m feeling positive about getting a job soon. With my youngest starting Reception in September I really feel like it is time to get my working life back on track.
I love this time of year. The sun actually has some heat to it and I’ve been wearing sandals 🙂 The children have been enjoying the longer days and have both been in shorts this week. We seemed to spend the weekend outside, dodging a couple of rain showers but nothing too serious. Our local park has had a makeover so we cycled there yesterday to try it out.
Did you know it’s Stop Snoring Week at the end of the month? I didn’t know such a thing existed but I was happy to receive an anti-snoring pillow from Silentnight. I was a little dubious about how it could stop my wonderful husband from snoring. However I’ve slept pretty well since he’s been using it!
When I heard there was a new Lego Friends set featuring a sewing machine I had to take a closer look. I’m not the biggest fan of Lego Friends, or gendered toys in general, but Emma’s Creative Workshop is quite fun.
Emma is sewing beautiful hair bows to sell on her e-shop. Check the sewing pattern on her whiteboard and use the sticky notes to add changes or new ideas. Then it’s time to get cutting, but which colour will make the nicest bows? Get to work at the sewing machine to help Emma turn her designs into beautiful creations ready to buy—she just needs to take pictures and upload them to her website.
I can’t resist a new children’s book, nor can my children, and this week we’ve been laughing over the story of Alison Hubble, who went to bed single… and woke up DOUBLE! A new picture book from Allan Ahlberg, it’s a weird, wonderful and witty rhyming tale, beautifully illustrated by Bruce Ingman. Both my 4 and 6 year olds enjoyed it, it’s a really fun story and I can see it becoming another children’s classic.
Have a great week everyone!

April 24, 2016 at 11:46 amAhh that book sounds great, I will have to check it out! I love a lego set too, but I do agree with you, I don’t see the point in specific ‘pink and girly’ sets for girls.
