Monday Happy List

Monday Happy List {Week 347}

a trip to Sutton Hoo

Starting the week by writing the Monday Happy List  is something I’ve been doing for a while. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I always love to write.

Monday Happy List {Week 347}

We were so lucky to spend a week in the beautiful Suffolk town of Southwold, famous for its rows of colourful beach huts. It was so lovely to explore somewhere new and the amazing weather meant we went to the beach every day. The town was very pretty, dominated by a huge lighthouse, and we enjoyed lots of pints of Adnams cider which is brewed in Southwold.

We picked Southwold due to its proximity to Sutton Hoo. My daughter studied the Anglo Saxons and Sutton Hoo during home learning and she wanted to visit it. It’s a really interesting place and we’re hoping to visit the British Museum to see some of the treasures they found this summer.

House in the Clouds Thorpeness

Suffolk has lots of pretty seaside towns and my favourite after Southwold are Thorpeness and Aldeburgh. I finally got to visit the House in the Clouds which has been on my list for years. Perhaps one day we’ll even stay in it! We also loved exploring all the fishing huts and boats on the beach at Aldeburgh.

standing on the Euroscope at Ness Point

The kids would pick Ness Point which is the most easterly point in the UK as their favourite trip. It was a little tricky to find, hidden away in an industrial part of Lowestoft, but the point is marked with a large circular plaque called a Euroscope, which indicates the distance to the other extremity points of Britain and various European destinations. It was fun to stand on, if a little windy!

    Suffolk is such a lovely place to visit. Sounds like Southwold is a good idea with the colourful beach huts. I’ve wanted to go visit a UK beach for a while.

    Southwold and Suffolk in general sounds like such a lovely place to get away to. I’ve never heard of Ness Point, but that’s a cool thing to have seen, even if it was windy x
