Monday Happy List {Week 310}

2020 Lego Collectables album and trading cards in Sainsbury’

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I love to write.

Monday Happy List {Week 310}

We’ve started to think about Secondary schools as my has started Year 6. The deadline for applying for a secondary school place is the end of next month which seems to have come round really quickly. Sadly all schools are only doing virtual open evenings! Fortunately we visited two schools last year but I would like my son to visit the school I work in. I think it’s really difficult to decide where you want to go to school unless you visit and get a feel for it.

I was excited to see the new 2020 Lego Collectables album and trading cards in Sainsbury’s last week. My children love collecting trading cards so I picked them up an album and some extra packs of cards. They already have some duplicates so hopefully they can swap them with friends. The packets are made from paper rather than plastic which is great for the environment.

watching Keane at Pub in the Park’s drive in Garden Party in Tunbridge Wells

On Saturday we went to Pub in the Park’s drive in Garden Party in Tunbridge Wells. We booked this months’ ago and I thought it might be cancelled but we were so happy it went ahead. We’ve been to a few drive in events this summer and we took our chairs so we could enjoy the concert from our own little patch of garden. We bought VIP tickets which included a goody bag and box of treats and we had the best view of Keane and Soul II Soul. It was so great to hear live music again, especially as the weather was amazing.

I’m working on my Christmas Gift Guides. I love sharing my finds with you and this year I’m going to produce gift guides for gingerbread, dogs and crafts as these are my favourite things to write about on my blog. I’ve already been sent a few things to feature and I can’t wait to share these next month.

Halloween will be different this year but we’re still excited to celebrate it. I think we’ll be decorating pumpkins and putting them in the window, like we did with our rainbow pictures back in March. I got my Cricut out over the weekend and made a start on some Halloween goodies which I’m looking forward to showing you all.

Have a great week everyone!

    I can’t imagine what it is going to be like kids picking their schools without a visit – I hope it all goes OK for you! The drive in sounds like a really nice idea and something a bit different to do.

    You had me at gingerbread! 😉
    Good luck with the secondary school form! I remember doing that last year, we already had our hearts set on the school my daughter has just joined, so our process started in the June and we managed to get in plenty of visits and experience days. Virtual visits are definitely the way forward now, but actually getting to walk round and experience it for yourselves gives you a better idea. Fingers crossed for you! Sim x

    That must be so hard choosing a school without visiting, I am working on my gift guides at the moment as think a lot of people will be looking at them this year as opposed to going around the shops

    Halloween is definitely going to be weird this year. I was gutted because I’ve just moved into my first house, Halloween falls on a Saturday for once and my boyfriend has the weekend off..it seemed too perfect circumstances to finally throw the Halloween party of my dreams, haha!

    It must be a nightmare not being able to visit schools. My son moved up last year and we had such a tough choice. I have just bought some pumpkins for our windows for Halloween

    I can not believe it is already time to start thinking about Christmas guides, it is crazy how this year has been.

    We have picked up a Lego album and some cards too – I dread to think how much Jack is going to be begging me to help him finish the collection! I’ve also been working on Christmas gift guides too.

    Good luck with the secondary school application! Our local one has just closed down for a fortnight as one of the teachers has tested positive for covid!!
