I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures. It’s a post I love to write. Life has changed considerably for us and everyone else in the UK over the last few months but we’re beginning to see a little more fun in our week. As the UK is no longer in lockdown I’m reverting back to the original title of this weekly post.
Monday Happy List {Week 299}
Our week feels totally different now my son is back to school 3 mornings a week. It means I can concentrate on my daughter more, although she still drags out her home learning for much of the day! Last week we sneaked in a few extra learning activities as she wanted to try sewing with an embroidery hoop. It’s been lovely to spend some time with her after 14 weeks juggling both children.
We weren’t very excited about pubs re-opening but like many people we couldn’t wait to get our hair cut again. I cut my son’s hair a few times but he was so happy to go to the barber’s. He wore a mask but felt fine and looks so much better. My haircut is booked for this week and I can’t wait! We’ve had a few walks along our local High Street and it is lovely seeing it come back to life.
My daughter has really missed her friends and we were finally able to arrange a socially distanced playdate at the park. It was really lovely to see her so happy and she had a great time running around with her friends.
My husband loves to race model cars and took our son racing their model cars on Sunday. They usually do this every other Sunday and it has been such a long time since they went. My daughter and I had a lovely girly morning on our own, watching Think Like a Dog and playing with moon sand.
Then it was off to our local Farmers Market which re-opened too! It was so good to see our favourite market vendors and we stocked up on some delicious food for the week. We have cheese, hummus, olives and cured meat to enjoy. The market was really well laid out and it was so easy to distance from other people. The weather was warm so we bought drinks and sat in the sunshine to people watch. We’d not seen so many people out in weeks.
I’m back to work for a few mornings this week which is both scary and exciting. The kids karate lessons are starting up and I am so happy to feel life is getting back to normal – or the new normal, anyway.

July 7, 2020 at 9:07 pmIt sounds like you have had so much going on! It is interesting everything happening with lockdown easing I do worry about it. Glad you managed to get your hair cut I think for many that was something they really needed to feel a bit uplifted, it’s self-care in some ways I guess.
