Bichon Frise puppy 12 weeks

Monday Happy List {Week 277}

Posted on February 3, 2020 by jenny

I love to start the week by writing the Monday Happy List. It’s a chance for me to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures – it’s a post I love to write.

Monday Happy List {Week 277}

Last week we attended a puppy induction talk/Dog School at our local Dog’s Trust. It was a really interesting talk and we are looking forward to starting our proper classes (with our pup!) in a few weeks.

Dog School at the Dog's Trust

Our little puppy turned 12 weeks and what an adventurous week it was. Toilet training is not going well and I’ve been a bit fed up with constantly cleaning the floor! We’ve booked a puppy trainer to come and visit and hopefully help us. Our pup is so lovely but takes up so much time.

Thankfully I had a good book to distract me from all puppy. I couldn’t resist the sound of The Lost Lights of St Kilda and read it over a week. It’s not often I get swept away by a book but I was reading this every opportunity I had (and I seem to spend a lot of time in the garden waiting for the puppy to poo).

On Saturday we escaped to Watford for a little shopping trip. I’m not a huge fan of shopping but my son needed some new clothes as he’s recently started cross country. I have a few birthdays coming up over the next few weeks so I’m trying to be organised with those. I also got to browse and stock up on all the cleaning products at Lakeland – thanks pup!

Crafting time was pretty non-existent last week apart from sewing labels on to school clothes. Viking recently sent me a box of craft supplies so I can celebrate World Book Day next month. I’m looking forward to celebrating my love for books and showing how they can be repurposed as a craft material.

    Puppy training is hard and often feels like nothing is working, then all of a sudden they seem to get it. I remember when ours was a puppy he had gone outside and was out for a while came in and weed on the floor. Honestly it does get better. I love Watford for shopping the centre is huge x

    It is amazing how much time pets do take up – I think some people just don’t realise. I hope things get easier for you when it comes to your Pup! Glad you have managed to have some down time too!

    I have a dog. We took him when he was 20 days old so I know how difficult is to train a baby dog. It is amazing how much time pets do take up.

    We’ve had a few dogs over the years. With the exception of our present dog, we had problems potty training every one. This one I started out taking him out every 15 minutes and spaced it out as he progressed. He’s 5 now and may have had 3 accidents in his life.

    Sounds like you have had a good and interesting week. Firstly congratulations to your pup on turning 12 weeks, looks like there is still much to do but your training will pay off in the long run.

    The Lost Lights of St Kilda sounds like an interesting book. We’ve been sent the same thing from Viking, I can’t wait to see what you come up with

    How exciting that you will be starting classes with your pup! That book sounds right up my street, might have to give it a read.
