Monday Happy List – week 116

Last week the whole family was ill on different days so it was a strange week. I fell behind a little on my Christmas prep so I’m hoping all the illness is behind us now so I can get a move on with everything.

There was a lot of sitting around and feeling sorry for myself. This quiet time allowed me space to read and enjoy the latest issue of Project Calm magazine. It included a lovely paper cut which I’ve been working on too.

On Saturday I had my Christmas concert. I joined a choir a year ago and it’s something I make time for each week, a welcome respite from two children who never seem to want to go to bed. Our Christmas concert was really well attended but I’m looking forward to a break from rehearsals before we go back in the New Year.

On Sunday we went to Hughenden Manor, our local National Trust property. They had some lovely Christmas events and I was so glad we squeezed it into our weekend. The children got to make gingerbread people, and pipe cleaner candy canes, as well as getting to meet Father Christmas.

Yesterday we finally put our Christmas tree and outside lights up. It seems like a few people most people around us have put theirs up and the children kept asking why ours weren’t up. I really don’t like them up too early but this felt like a good time.

I had a Gingerbread and Salted Caramel cupcake yesterday from Waitrose which was just amazing. I’m not sure why I had never thought of this combination before!
