Memory box

I’m a hoarder and I’m not afraid to admit it! This is why my job as a curator is perfect as it allows me to collect, catalogue and keep for ever! I’ve always kept momentoes of events – I have boxes full of ticket stubs as well as photographs, programmes and keepsakes. When we got married two years ago I squirreled away a selection of items to remind me of our wedding day – a programme, an invite, some wedding cake, a thank you card, as well as our official wedding album and guest book.

I knew I wanted to do something similar to commemorate the birth of Edward so straight away I started collecting items to remind me of my pregnancy and his first year. I’ve used an old Orla Kiely box and so far I have his birth announcements, Bounty photograph, first babygro, scratch mitts and hat as well as his hospital name tag. I’ve also started to collect items from events we’ve gone to as a family, including tickets for his first steam train trip and air show! I’m looking forward to adding to the memory box over the year and hope it is something that Edward will cherish as much as I do.

  2. Another hoarder here! I have two memory boxes, one for me and my husband and also one for my daughter. I love them and keep all sorts of things on them. I really like being able to look through them and remember days out and events and hope that my daughter will love looking through hers when she’s older too!
