A ‘marvellous’ competition for truly marvellous children

Posted on November 21, 2017August 8, 2021 by jenny

I know many of my readers love a creative competition so today I’m sharing a lovely one from Chipmunks and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. My children both adore the stories of Roald Dahl and we can’t wait to enter this ourselves! The hunt is on for the UK’s next, young literary superstar with the launch of a competition by children’s footwear retailer, Chipmunks and Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity. The two have joined forces to encourage children to get creative and celebrate the art of storytelling by coming up with their own tale about the charity’s mascot, Marvin the Marvellous Crocodile.

Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity

Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity provides specialist children’s nurses and family support for seriously ill children in the UK. Based in hospitals and communities nationwide, they support children living with a variety of serious, rare and undiagnosed conditions.

Bedtime Story Competition

The competition is open to any child under the age of 12 so if you have children (or grandchildren of this age) – read on! Young children are being asked to put their thinking caps on and create an extra special adventure story about Marvin the Marvellous Crocodile (the mascot of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity) and one of Chipmunks’ popular slipper characters which include Tommy the Tiger, Sharky the Shark, Lionel the Lion, Kiki the Cat, Piper the Penguin and Una the Unicorn. Their story can focus on anything – the more creative and exciting the better!

Piper the Penguin

The lucky winner will get the chance to have their work published and read to some of the seriously ill children benefitting from the care of Roald Dahl Nurses across the UK. As well as:

  • A £100 Chipmunks voucher to spend on shoes of your choice
  • A Golden Ticket providing free family entry to the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre
  • A selection of Roald Dahl books
  • A Roald Dahl character figurine

Chipmunks has become an official supporter of the charity and will be launching a capsule collection of Marvin the Marvellous Crocodile accessories in the coming months, ten per cent of the proceeds of which will go towards helping the charity to continue its vital work.

The competition is open until 22nd December and entries can be sent to bedtimestories@ilkagency.com. For more details about the characters and information on how to enter, please visit the Chipmunks Footwear site here.

Everyone loves Roald Dahl, and what a fabulous competition to get kids brains working.
