I had big ambitions for making lots of handmade gifts this year. Time seems to have run out on me though and although I made a couple of hand stencilled gifts, I have made far fewer than I would have liked.
We’re giving lots of gift cards this year so I have come up with a great way of making them a little more interesting to open. By placing them in lovely hand decorated boxes!
I enjoy decopatch and have been spending my evenings covering stars and hearts for our Christmas tree. It’s nice and simple which ticks all my boxes and I love the fact it’s impossible to make a mistake. Which is why I set myself a challenge to make something a little different. Instead of covering a cardboard box with decopatch paper I used a pretty paper with two patterns on it! This meant there was some careful measuring involved and much crossing of glue-y fingers.
I’m pretty pleased with the finished result though and I think this paper is just stunning. Now I just need to go and buy the gift card to put inside 🙂
Disclosure – the craft supplies were kindly sent to me for review from One Stop Craft Shop, a brilliant online craft shop.

March 12, 2014 at 10:37 amIt’s great to make hand-made gifts for Christmas, not only will it be easier on the purse strings but it adds a personal touch that you can’t find in any gift bought from a shop. I love the patterns on your home-made box, thanks for sharing!
