Lego playing

Lego Friends and cake pops

I was a bit sceptical when I heard about a new Lego range for girls which was launched in December 2011 with 14 sets. I loved Lego when I was younger (and still do today!) and loved my Lego bricks and Technical Lego too. Extensive research suggested although girls enjoyed playing with Lego they found it difficult to identify with – Lego Friends was born. Each character has a distinct personality and a variety of interests ranging from invention and design to animals and performing arts.

Lego Friends is the first LEGO building experience that has been fully tailored to girls’ tastes and interests, tapping into girl’s desire for realistic role-play, creativity, and a highly detailed, character-based world with the core values of LEGO building.

Available from August 2012, the new range adds 9 new products to the existing Lego Friends range, priced from £9.99 to £89.99, including Heartlake Stables, Emma’s Horse Trailer, Summer Riding Camp, Adventure Camper, Heartlake Flying Club and Olivia’s Speedboat.

This was the first opportunity we had to see Lego Friends up close and we loved it. The detail is amazing and the toddler enjoyed pointing out little things which caught his eye and really liked the animals. I can easily imagine buying a few sets to supplement our Lego collection! The Summer Riding Camp is already hotly tipped to be one of the top 10 Christmas gifts and there was also a preview of the exciting new Lego Friends Advent Calendar!

As we were leaving we were presented with the most amazing Lego cake pop from Pop Bakery. Mine looks a bit rough around the edges because I took it home to share with my husband but it was delicious and very clever!

The lego cake pop looks amazing. When I was reading blog post I was with my 5 year old girl and she was like “mommy, I want that”.
