Ladybird Tales of Adventurous Girls

Ladybird Tales of Adventurous Girls

Posted on October 15, 2018 by jenny

We are lucky to receive some lovely books to read and share. Both my children love to get lost in a good book and we still read together at bedtime. Today I wanted to tell you about the new Ladybird Tales of Adventurous Girls book from Ladybird Books. It is a gorgeous book, beautifully illustrated and perfect for sharing!

Ladybird Tales of Adventurous Girls

Join six adventurous girls from around the world as they use their wits, courage and strength to overcome the odds in this colourful, illustrated collection of Ladybird Tales. This is a gorgeous collection of fairytales for our time – proving that girls can save the day and always have! The book features 6 iconic and lesser known fairytales and fables from around the world including: Gretel and Hansel; Tamasha and the Troll; Tokoyo and the Sea Serpent; Chandra and the Elephants; Sea Girl and the Golden Key and The Snow Queen.

Ladybird Tales of Adventurous Girls

Although these are Classic tales for children aged 4 and over I have to admit that some of them were new to us. Gretel and Hansel and The Snow Queen are firm favourites but we loved reading the other stories too.

I love that there are lots of story books which are both empowering and inspiring for adventurous girls such as mine. We are already huge fans of Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls, Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World and Little Leaders: Bold Women in Black History. The Ladybird Tales of Adventurous Girls is a great addition to this type of book.

Not only are there great stories but each has its own unique illustrations by 6 different female illustrators, including Hannah Peck and Holly Hatman. There is also an Introduction from award-winning author and 2005-2007 Children’s Laureate, Jacqueline Wilson.

Ladybird Tales of Adventurous Girls review

We have really enjoyed reading this book together. It’s such a beautiful format with lavish full-colour artwork. It’s perfect for reading at bedtime and would also makes a perfect (Christmas) gift!

Ladybird Tales of Adventurous Girls, with an introduction by Jacqueline Wilson, is priced at £12.99 and published by Ladybird Books.

It’s so good to have some newer fairytales and show girls that they don’t always have to reliant on a man x
