Kingdom of Sweets Gob Stopper Challenge

Kingdom of Sweets Gob Stopper Challenge

Posted on October 9, 2017August 22, 2019 by jenny

I have a terrible sweet tooth. I just love sweets and they’re a huge part of who I am. Some of my happiest memories are of going to our little corner shop to spend my pocket money with my older sister. Mmmm, sheets of rice paper, shrimps and Hubba Bubba! My sister always went for the packs of Pacers whilst I always spent ages choosing my favourite penny sweets.

Kingdom of Sweets Gob Stopper Challenge

I can re-call growing up through my favourite sweet shops. I remember I was allowed to walk to a sweet shop after school whilst my mum finished work, and I remember being at my happiest when I walked to the sweet shop where my Nan lived, thinking about which of my favourite sweets I was going to buy.

It’s probably no surprise that I’ve passed my love of sweet shops on to my children. We don’t have a good old fashioned sweet shop where we live but they love to visit the one where my mum lives. She has a tin of 50 pence pieces which they love to raid when they visit her.

Although we don’t have a sweet shop on our high street we’re lucky to make frequent trips to London where they love to visit Kingdom of Sweets. They can spend hours in the Piccadilly Square or Oxford Street branches and we were excited to hear they’re opening a branch in the heart of Camden too. Kingdom of Sweets is the UK’s biggest sweet shop, specialising in retro American candy and chocolate.

Kingdom of Sweets Gob Stopper Challenge

To celebrate the launch of their latest branch we were sent a huge bag of their famous gobstoppers and challenged to go through some of the world’s strongest gobstoppers without crunching, or spitting them out, in record time! Luckily my children were up for the challenge. They were so excited to open up a parcel of sweets and try them all out.

The only thing I hadn’t anticipated was that they went just a little bit silly. That’s putting it politely. They happily worked their way through the gobstoppers, seeing who could suck theirs the quickest. I have to admit that some didn’t last long. There was quite a few sour flavours and you can see the expressions on their faces in our video.

They loved the challenge and I hope you will agree that they did pretty well. Kingdom of Sweets sell a great selection of gobstoppers, especially sour flavours. With The Sourest Day (a day to celebrate all things sour) coming up on the 25th October would you be brave enough to take the Gobstopper Challenge? Look out for #gobstopperchallenge on social to see how others get on with the challenge!

Disclosure – thank you to Kingdom of Sweets for sending us such an amazing selection of gobstoppers to try. Find your nearest branch via their website.

Bless them! The look on their faces when they had the sour ones says it all. When my grown up son was younger he would have challenges with his friends with the fiery Gobstoppers. He always seemed to manage them, but was hilarious watching their faces.

I love sour sweets so I’d love to try these myself! I remember my cousins teasing me pretending to give me nice sweets when they were actually cinammon gobstoppers! UGH!

I love kingdom of sweets but I do find that you can end up spending a lot of money there. I’ve never been a huge fan of gobstoppers but I’d give the challenge a go x
