Win a How To Train Your Dragon goody bag

Yesterday we were invited to a really special immersive screening of the last film in the How To Train Your Dragon franchise, The Hidden World from Universal UK. My children have grown up with the How To Train Your Dragon books and films (see our review of the Playmobil How To Train Your Dragon range here) so we couldn’t wait to see a preview of the film and find out what would happen to our favourite characters, Hiccup and Toothless.

An immersive screening experience and the Isle of Berk

I don’t think we’ve ever been to an immersive screening before so we weren’t really sure what to expect. We walked through Upper Street in Islington until we saw a Viking, and we knew our adventure was ready to begin. We were welcomed and presented with wooden runes then directed to the Dragon Training Academy. The children took part in some fun activities, which they passed with flying colours, and graduated from the Dragon Training Academy to become Vikings! Then we explored the Isle of Berk, where they got their faces painted, crafted at Gobbler’s Blacksmiths Forge, and played at the Sheep Dunk. It was so much fun to experience and the children received film posters, activity sheets and Viking hats as they went along. You can probably guess who was carrying everything!

When the horn sounded we knew that it was time for the screening. We headed through a decorated door and descended to the hidden world! The screening took place deep underground in a room decorated with lights and plants which really set the scene.

Now chief and ruler of Berk alongside Astrid, Hiccup has created a gloriously chaotic dragon utopia. When the sudden appearance of female Light Fury coincides with the darkest threat their village has ever faced, Hiccup and Toothless must leave the only home they’ve known and journey to a hidden world thought only to exist in myth. As their true destines are revealed, dragon and rider will fight together-to the very ends of the Earth-to protect everything they’ve grown to treasure.

Take your tissues when you watch the film! It was really breathtaking but a little sad too. We loved the screening, especially when the lights changed and lit up different parts of the room. It was such a fun experience and one we’ll definitely remember.

How To Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World is in cinemas 1st February.
