My toddler is Thomas the Tank Engine mad. He also likes making things so I thought we could combine the two. On a recent day out we saw the Troublesome Trucks and thought it would be fun to make them ourselves.
We used some mini cereral boxes, which we painted grey. You can see I was really lazy and turned the boxes inside out as the paint wouldn’t stick to the shiny side of the cardboard. You could also cover boxes in grey paper, dependant on how impatient your toddler is. We then went through old issues of Thomas the Tank Engine magazine and cut out the faces and wheels which we stuck on the boxes. Finally I drew lines in black pen around each box to imitate the planks of wood.
The toddler loves his Troublesome Trucks and has been filling them up with sweets and stones to recreate his favourite episodes!

September 30, 2012 at 12:11 pmThe ONLY thing I hear of when I hear Troublesome Trucks is the rollercoaster at Thomas Land, which had Aaron screaming – you can hear him on my You Tube vid of the same name (TT not screaming).
Anyway, you are clearly so so good at cardboard making I hope you are ready for 6 October đŸ™‚
