How to make Scrabble tile key rings

I was tidying up today and was a little shocked how many Scrabble sets I have. As much as I love the game I also love to craft with the letter tiles so have bought a few sets recently to upcycle. Today I’m going to share how I make Scrabble tile key rings. These are the perfect size to pop in a cracker, or send in the post as a little gift.

Equipment needed to make Scrabble tile key rings:
Selection of vintage Scrabble tiles
Dremel
Needle file
Mobile phone straps with a lobster clasp

How to make Scrabble tile key rings:

Choose where you’re going to drill your hole. I used Scrabble tiles which had a hollow back which meant there was a decent edge to drill through. I used a Dremel to make the hole and used a needle file to smooth down any sharp edges.

using a Dremel on a Scrabble tileOnce I knew what I was doing it was quite quick to drill the holes.

using a DremelI tried to add split rings to make them into keyrings but it was surprisingly difficult! I’ve threaded through little straps with lobster clasps on the end so they can be clipped onto a mobile phone or zip. So far I’ve made 2 complete sets of the alphabet and I’m just about to put them in my Etsy shop.

There was a big trend a couple of years ago of wearing these as rings, but I love the keyring idea x
