how to make dipped feathers - the gingerbread house

How to … dipped feathers

Posted on July 2, 2015June 20, 2022 by jenny

It can’t have escaped your notice that feathers are everywhere at the moment. What’s not to love about them? They are soft, pretty, make great table decorations, and are a fun accessory in a kid’s headdress. My daughter has been collecting them whenever she sees them but you can also buy them and we have a colourful selection from Hobbycraft.

This week we’ve been spending a lot of time decorating our tipi. The weather has been unbelievably hot so the children have been enjoying playing outside. I wanted to make a dipped feather garland to decorate it and it turned out so well I thought I’d share it.

Equipment you will need to make dipped feathers
Feathers
Glitter glue
Paint brush
Masking tape
Extra glitter

How to make dipped feathers

Decide how much of your feather you want to dip and place a piece of masking tape across the feather to mark the line.

Paint your feather with glitter glue. I used a matching glitter glue but you could mix it up.

Sprinkle with glitter in a matching colour and leave to dry. When completely dry remove the masking tape and you have beautiful dipped feathers.

Nice and simple crafts. You could make a wall hanging or light shade with them. Very pretty.

These are so pretty. I think my niece would love to do something like this with me.

This is such a cute idea and so simple but effective too! I love to have a stash of coloured feathers in my craft box, they come in so handy for crafts and party decorations! x
