We celebrated the first day of our Easter holidays yesterday with a trip to our local park. It’s a wonderful open space with formal gardens, a play area and tennis courts. My children were looking longingly at the tennis courts as it’s been months since they last played tennis (when we went on our mini-cruise last year). Tennis is a really fun family activity, perfect for all ages and abilities.
Free #TennisForKids with the Lawn Tennis Association
Luckily for them there are clubs all around the UK which make getting involved in tennis really easy. The Lawn Tennis Association’s #TennisForKids sessions take place from 22 April 2017 and anyone can sign up their 5- to 8-year-old for free sessions via the ClubSpark website. There are a whopping 20,000 places available across the country.
There’s a tennis club at my children’s school which my son is really keen to join but it clashes with another activity he does on that day. So I’m going to try and sign him up for some of LTA’s #TennisForKids sessions which sound like a great way to learn. His hand-eye co-ordination have noticeably improved recently and I know he would benefit from the exercise and fresh air. I keep telling my children to try as many things as they can now as there aren’t so many opportunities when you get older.
The #TennisForKids sessions are run by specially trained Coaches and are perfect for kids brand new to tennis. There’s even an opportunity for parents to get on court with your child during a session, which could just be the thing I need to start playing again.
The #TennisForKids programme is specially tailored to keeps kids engaged, even if they’ve never picked up a racket before. It includes ball games to help with hand-eye co-ordination, softer balls well-suited for beginners, playing on a more-manageable mini-tennis court (smaller footprint, lower net), and coaches trained in getting first timers excited and having fun. At the end of the #TennisForKids sessions, children receive a free tennis racket which is theirs to keep!
Disclosure – I’m working in a paid relationship with the Lawn Tennis Association on their #TennisForKids campaign. Sign up for your FREE tennis activity here.
