Five minute felt superhero masks

Five minute felt superhero masks

Posted on July 27, 2017July 29, 2017 by jenny

My 5 year old loves playing super heroes. A few weeks ago her friends came over and it was funny watching them all dress up in whatever we had – which mainly consisted of a Captain America shield and helmet, Iron Man hands and lots of Star Wars lightsabers….

I really wanted to have a go at making simple felt superhero masks so whipped some up using different coloured felt. I used the template from the Duck Tape masks I made a while ago.

I used
paper mask template
sheets of coloured felt
elastic
basic sewing kit and sewing machine

I pinned the paper template to the felt and cut round it twice.

I pinned the two layers together, slotting in the length of elastic.

I stitched around the eyes and around each mask using my sewing machine – you could stitch this by hand if you prefer.

They are so quick to stitch and I managed to whip up 4 felt masks before my sewing machine started playing up. They are really simple but so much fun. We leave ours in the living room and it’s funny to see the children picking them up and wearing them at breakfast or when they are doing their homework.

Next I need to stitch some matching felt superhero cuffs for them!

Oh I need to share this to my colleague. Her kid will be celebrating his birthday and planning to go on a superhero theme. I guess this will be perfect instead of buying a disposable superhero masks.

This is a lovely idea. My son loves PJ masks so I might do one in his favourite characters colour. Just need to find out which one that is.
