axe throwing at Game of Throwing

Five Happy Things {Week 8/2025}

Posted on February 24, 2025April 13, 2025 by jenny

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.

Five Happy Things {Week 8/2025}

Last week the kids were on half term so we planned a few fun days out, including axe throwing at Game of Throwing. The kids have tried this a few times with Scouts but I had never done it before. It was actually quite fun and a great way to let off some steam.

We enjoyed a few days away in the pretty town of Rye. We used our National Trust membership to visit Bateman’s, Bodiam Castle and Scotney Castle all for free. There was also lots of geocaching, dog walks on the beach and a trip on the steam train.

Everyone loves a cat cafe so we booked a visit to Kiko’s Cat Cafe. They had lots of lovely cats who were very friendly. It’s the only cat cafe where we’ve been given cat treats to feed the cats which was fun.

Liberty Tumbling Blocks cushion cover

I worked on my Liberty Tumbling Blocks cushion cover. I decided to make a piece of fabric 60cm x 60cm for the front panel of my cushion. I’m going to use plain black fabric from the back. I needed to make a few more EPP blocks as well as some triangles to get the finished piece to the right shape and size. It took me ages to remove the backing papers from each block but it looks great now it’s finished. I’m thinking I might hand embroider each white block to make them stand out before I stitch the pieces together.

As well as my EPP I took the pegboard embroidery board kit from Cotton Clara I’ve had for a while. I wanted to embroider my initial and it was very quick and easy to stitch, I’m not sure why I didn’t do it sooner!

    Your Liberty Tumbling Blocks are just beautiful. This is a pattern I’ve not been able to get right with my quilting. I have a house full of cats. Going to a cat Cafe would be so exciting to this old cat lover.

    Sounds like you’ve made the most of the half term! I have been to Bodiam Castle previously – it’s stunning.

    A cat cafe always seem like so much though my allergies would flare up like crazy, I always want to visit one. Your week was so eventful and like a bunch of fun.
