Five Happy Things {Week 528}

Posted on December 2, 2024December 2, 2024 by jenny

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.

Five Happy Things {Week 528}

Last week was hectic. My daughter took part in both a cross country competition and netball match, and also turned 13. Two teenagers in the house!

My son took his Grade 3 clarinet exam and passed which he was very pleased about.

We were excited to celebrate December 1st and open our Advent calendars. Big Brother chose a Hotel Chocolat one, Little Sis picked a puzzle one. Our elves delivered a letter saying the teens are on The Nice List which means the elves don’t have to report back to Father Christmas anymore – phew no more coming up with ideas at bedtime!

Pretty Fabrics and Trims Advent Box

I also got to open my advent box. This year I decided to do it differently and chose the Pretty Fabrics and Trims Advent Box. Instead of chocolates or beauty products I get to make something during Advent! Each week there is a different envelope containing a small project as well a larger ‘Countdown to Christmas’ project which takes 4 weeks. I’ve already started on the little felt Father Christmas decoration as I can’t resist working with felt.

Last night I sang in a Christmas carol concert. I decided to join a choir earlier this year and we’ve had a lot of fun rehearsing each week. We also sang Bach’s Magnificat which was tricky but beautiful. I’m looking forward to a few weeks off over Christmas before we start back again in January.

Let me know what made you happy last week.

    I have not got an advent calendar this year, I do love your idea for saying goodbye to the naughty elf though definitely going to let my friends know this

    That’s so cool that you joined a choir, I bet singing in the carol concert felt so festive. That’s so good that you don’t have to do elf everyday, I don’t think I could hack it x

    It sounds wonderful being in a choir. I have always loved the idea of it! Two teenagers in the house – happy birthday to your 13 year old. Sounds like a busy week.

    Congratulations to your son on passing his clarinet exam and happy birthday to your daughter. I remember it like it was yesterday when my children were all teens. Now I will only have one teenager left next year, they grow up so fast!

    Sounds like a great week and I ran cross country too and loved it so much. I also played Clarinet up through 12th grade and want to pick it back up as it has been too long since I have played and it’s a shame to lose all that I have learned. A belated Happy Birthday to your daughter too!

    Sounds like you had a fun week. Having an advent calendar was part of our Christmas traditions when my son was a kid. Loved it! Enjoy yours!

    That sounds like a really unique advent calendar! Sounds much better than chocolate.
