Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.
Five Happy Things {Week 527}
Last week I finished reading The External Examiner by Janice Hallett. I always enjoy her books and this one was great! It was full of twists and turns, all told through online messages and Whatsapp conversations. I thought it was good and kept me guessing right to the end. I borrowed a copy from the library but wished I had it on my Kindle app, as I wanted to read it all the time.
We had snow last week! We woke up to snow on Tuesday and it was really icy cold all week. Then the week ended with the second named storm of winter. We’ll be decorating our house with our Christmas lights this week which will hopefully make everything feel cosier. I changed my blog header as Winter is definitely here.
I couldn’t help myself and added a few cheeky products to my gingerbread gift guide. I’ve been trying to find festive gingerbread dough in Tesco as I really love ready to bake dough and this would be a fun activity with the kids. I haven’t found it yet but my fingers are crossed I find it soon.
Since I signed up for the Benzie Holiday Ornament Exchange 2024 I’ve been looking forward to making something. I spent some time on Pinterest but decided to make a Cotton Clara kit I had stashed away. I finished my handmade decoration and posted it early last week.
My daughter got picked for the girls cross country race this coming week. She has been really reluctant to try for any of the teams at school so I’m glad she went for this. She gets the afternoon off school which she is really happy about too.
Let me know what has made you happy this week.

November 29, 2024 at 10:42 pmAlong with the majority of the UK (from what I’m hearing) we’ll be putting up the Christmas Tree this weekend. Tomorrow I’m going with some friends to a Christmas door wreath workshop, which has become an annual event. It will be my last one though, as I’m moving 240 miles away next summer. So it is a bit bitter-sweet. I’m looking forward to enjoying our last Christmas in our family home, where we’ve lived for 15 years x
