Northern Lights over London

Five Happy Things {Week 521}

Posted on October 13, 2024October 13, 2024 by jenny

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.

Five Happy Things {Week 521}

Last week I had the cold that has been going round. I needed something easy to binge watch and came across Mormon Wives on Disney+. It was very watchable and just what I needed. Now I am feeling better I have discovered Ludwig which is equally entertaining.

The Northern Lights made an appearance over London on Thursday evening. We missed them when they appeared earlier this year so I was really excited to be able to stand in my back garden and see them. Unfortunately there is a lot of light pollution where we live but I still saw some amazing colours in the sky.

Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally

On Friday I went to the Knitting and Stitching Show at Ally Pally. This is a craft show I try to attend every year and really enjoy. I signed myself up to three workshops and tried foundation paper piecing, hand quilting and embellishing a screen printed template. I enjoyed the chance to sit and stitch and picked up a few new supplies too.

We’ve been crafting for Halloween and had a lot of fun making recycled pumpkin garlands and paper doily ghosts. We will be at home over Halloween so my youngest has been excitedly planning her Halloween costume all week.

My daughter will be turning 13 next month and is growing up so fast. Yesterday we went shopping and picked up a pretty Pandora charm bracelet for her birthday. She’s planning all the charms she wants to collect and I’m excited to gift her her first piece of jewellery which she will be able to keep.

    We also saw the Northern lights in Ontario and it was stunning. That was my happy thing as well, it was beautiful.

    The craft show sounds like it was a lot of fun! I dabble in stitching, so I would have loved those classes, too!

    I was so excited that the Aurora was back again, lucky to have seen it both times. I would love to head to a craft show soon, I really enjoy all things knitting and crafting. Something I will have to look at doing soon!
