Monday Happy List

Five Happy Things {Week 512}

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.

Five Happy Things {Week 512}

Finished my Cotton Clara cherry embroidery hoop kit. I wanted something simple to take away on holiday and this was stitched with simple split back stitch. I also packed my EPP and stitched some more blocks for my Liberty Tumbling Blocks cushion.

We spent the whole week on a family holiday in Normandy, exploring the beautiful coast and countryside. We covered a lot of miles but had some lovely days out from Mont St Michael to Le Havre, via the D-Day beaches

I’ve been reading The Woman Who Went Over Niagara Falls in a Barrel by Caroline Cauchi. She also wrote Mrs Van Gogh which I loved, so I have high hopes for this book.

Hopefully I will have some more time to write about some of our days out in Normandy with the tween and teen. I think holidaying with older kids can be hard work as they basically don’t want to do anything unless there is wifi. However we managed a few days out, and you can always tell if they are enjoying themselves because they will be taking photos.

We’ve wanted to visit Mont St Michael for years and finally made it, getting up early to try and arrive before the masses descended on it. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such an overcrowded tourist spot! It was such a beautiful place but so busy for such a tiny island. It is almost more beautiful standing and looking at it, rather than being on the tiny island.

Let me know what has made you smile this week.

    I love your cherry embroidery so pretty. It sounds like you have had a lovely time away, even with a tween and teen who are harder to keep entertained than when they were younger

    Your Normandy trip sounds very lovely, I know how it is with slightly older children and how they just want to chill with their phones. I really love your cherry embroidery, it is very cute!
