Monday Happy List

Five Happy Things {Week 490}

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for a while over the last few years. It is my chance to sit down and reflect on the things that made me happy in the previous week, as well as to record some of the adventures we have as a family.

We celebrated St David’s Day on the 1st March with some delicious Welsh cakes. We warmed them up in the AirFryer and they were amazing! I enjoyed mine plain whilst the kids covered theirs in biscoff spread.

On Saturday we went into London as I wanted to catch the The Fabric of Democracy exhibition at the Fashion and Textile Museum before it closed today. It was a beautiful exhibition and I loved seeing the clothes and fabrics from all around the world on display. One of my favourites was the Second World War era Victory Dress by Diana Dresses using ‘Flags of the Allies’ fabric. You can even spot the well known image of Churchill with cigar and V sign.

I finished my Orla Kiely Flower Tile jigsaw. It was only 500 pieces but the pattern was quite tricky so it took me a while to complete. I love the flower design and the colours.

I read The Ultimate Sewing Machine Mastery book as I am always trying to improve my sewing machine knowledge. I’m also reading High Wages by Dorothy Whipple which I’m really enjoying.

My magnolia bud embroidery hoop from the Spring 2023 Craftpod box has been causing me some issues. I wasn’t happy with one of the coloured threads I used so have been covering it up with white thread. I find this kind of thread painting quite tricky but am determined to persevere (hopefully before our own magnolia bursts into bloom).

    You have some lovely projects going on here. I think completing that jigsaw was super relaxing.

    Ohh you have magnolias in real life? They’re so beautiful when they bloom.
