Five Happy Things {Week 48/2025}

Starting the week by writing the Happy List is something I’ve been doing for the last few years. It’s my chance to sit down and reflect on the little or big things that made me smile in the previous week, as well as to record some of our family adventures.

Five Happy Things {Week 48/2025}

I finished a Cotton Clara Christmas embroidery hoop I bought a few years ago. I’ve been trying to finish craft kits I have in my stash so was very happy to stitch it. We will be decorating in a few weeks so I will be able to display it.

Last week I finished reading the latest Dan Brown book, The Secret of Secrets. I loved the book but it was soooooo big, I felt like I’d been reading it for weeks! So happy to have finished it and now I can choose a new book to read, maybe something festive (maybe not).

As well as my festive sewing projects I wanted to make some decorations. I started with a walnut shell wreath which was really simple to make once I’d found some walnuts. I used hot glue to glue them to each other, and a plate to make sure I kept the shape as I glued.

My daughter celebrated her 14th birthday which was fun despite being on a school day. She opened some presents before school and the rest after school. We didn’t manage to eat birthday cake until 10pm as she had Scouts too!

Harry Potter themed Christmas tree at Kings Cross station

Over the weekend we went into London to visit the Harry Potter themed Christmas tree at Kings Cross station and the Snoopy in the City trail around the Fleet Street Quarter. The weather was sunny and cold, so perfect for walking around. We found all twelve of the uniquely decorated Snoopy and his dog house, they were all so beautifully decorated.

Let me know what you’ve been up to this week.

  1. The walnut shell wreath sounds lovely—such a clever idea. And I’m so jealous of the Snoopy trail, that sounds like the perfect festive day out. Hope you find a good book next!
